Gold Leaf
Gerstendörfer, Gold Beater since 1843, manufactures more than 25 types of genuine Gold Leaf for any scope of application. We offer a wide range of various colours, formats and thickness. Gold leaf and silver leaf in loose and transfer/patent format, palladium, genuine gold and silver on rolls, genuine gold and silver schaibin, genuine shell gold and shell silver in powder and the whole range of base metal (Imitation Gold and Silver Leaf, Cooper, Variegated etc.) and bronze powder.
GOLD LEAF LOOSE – The Gold Leaf is placed loosely in a booklet and contains 25 leaves. Gold leaf in type loose cannot handled by hand, when working with loose leaf you must make use of different gilder tools (Gilders knife, gilders cushion and gilders tip).
Gold Leaf Loose is usable for the techniques of Oil Gilding, Water Gilding and Glass Gilding. It can be used with different gold sizes and adhesives, like Mixtion (oil based), Synthetic Water Gold Size (water based), Water Size, Gelatin Glue Size and Kölner Gilding Products.
GOLD LEAF TRANSFER/PATENT – Gold leaf is mechanically pressed onto a tissue paper and is available in booklets of 25 leaves. The tissue paper can easily handled by hand and also cut with scissors in desired dimensions. Holding one edge of the tissue, place the gold leaf on the size, rubbing gently with a finger, cotton wool or cloth. After that, the tissue paper can be removed like a transfer picture.
Gold Leaf Transfer/Patent is usable for the techniques of Oil Gilding and Glass Gilding. It can be used with different gold sizes and adhesives, like Mixtion (oil based), Synthetic Water Gold Size (water based) and Kölner Gilding Products.
Gold Leaf is available by default of 25 leaves and 80 x 80 mm in format. Other quantities and sizes are possible in addition:

SILVER LEAF – Genuine silver is pure beaten silver (999,9 Fineness). We offer genuine Silver Leaf in type Loose, Transfer/Patent and Extra Thin. Echtes Blattsilber ist reines geschlagenes Silber (999,9 Feinheit). Silver leaf will tarnish quickly and need to coat with protective lacquer against oxidation. It is solely usable in the interior area.
Silver Leaf is available by default of 25 leaves and 95 x 95 mm in format. Other quantities and sizes on request.
GOLD LEAF SHADES
GOLD & SILVER ON ROLLS
Genuine Gold and Silver on Rolls is especially appropriate for gilding of lines, but also for large-surface gildings. Genuine Gold is pressed onto a continuous length of waxed paper. The roll or ribbon length is approx. 21 m and can be optional trimmed to any size required (width available from 3 mm up to 110 mm).
Gold and Silver on Rolls is usable for the techniques of Oil Gilding and Glass Gilding. It can be used with different gold sizes and adhesives, like Mixtion (oil based), Synthetic Water Gold Size (water based) and Kölner Gilding Products.
Rolls are available in 21 m length and from 3 mm up to 110 mm width. Available carat as follows:
